Here at GW Plant Hire, one thing that we specialise in with our high tech machinery, is manege construction. This isn’t something that is commonly heard of, and in fact a lot of people don’t actually know what it means. A manege is something used in equestrian, and so if you have horses, this is something you simply can’t be without!
As manege construction may be something you are unsure about and undecided as to whether you need this, we thought we would answer some questions for you, and explain why having a manege in equestrian is essential…
To put it into simple terms, a manege is essentially an outdoor space that is cordoned off and used to keep horses. This could be where you train, ride and exercise them, or where you leave them for periods of time during the day. Perhaps you have a farm, or allow people to come and practice horse riding. If this is the case, you need a manege to accommodate this and provide a safe space for all activity. Furthermore, having horses of your own means that you need a space to train and exercise them.
In order for a manege to be successful and meet requirements, it has to be constructed properly. Manege construction is a whole process that involves clearing, leveling and preparing the area of land that it is being built on, and creating a safe and secure environment to school horses. This means ensuring that it is large enough to provide room for the horses to train, as well as tall and secure enough to keep them inside this enclosed area.
The measurements and dimensions required are completely unique to you and what you intend to do with the space. For example, will it focus mostly on jumping? Will you train more than one horse at a time? All of these things have to be considered before construction begins.
If you require a riding area or a place to train horses, then having a manege is essential. Lots of people in equestrian find that it is very difficult not to have a manege of their own for training purposes. Having a manege allows time for commitment and provides a secure and practical environment to train and to exercise your horses. Furthermore, if you often ride at night, having a manege can provide a well lit area to make this safer and easier for you. As well as this, horses need a lot of exercise. If you do not have a manege of your own and rely on traveling to other locations to be able to use the training space, your horses won’t be able to get as much exercise and training time as they need.
